I applied for the position via Indeed and was contacted by one of the recruiters from CBS Interactive. I had an initial phone interview on Monday where we discussed my background, current responsibilities and current salary. I was asked to come in for an in person interview that Friday to meet with the Director. I arrived about fifteen minutes early and waited for the Director in the lobby for an extra ten minutes. I thought the interview went well and really enjoyed meeting with the Director and learning more about the company and culture. I was told I'd hear back in the next week or so about next steps as I was the first person to interview and she would let my recruiter know how it went. She said she didn't want to drag on the interviewing process and was looking to fill the position. After about two weeks I hadn't heard anything and followed up with the recruiter. She told me the Director had been traveling and hadn't had the chance to interview other candidates. She thanked me for my patience and said she would be in touch. After about two months of not hearing anything, I followed up again. I knew at that point I hadn't gotten the job considering it had been over two months, but found it odd that they didn't even have the courtesy to contact me to let me know. When I checked in this time the recruiter told me that they went with another candidate. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of follow up and how everything was handled. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't followed up for the second time, I probably still would be wondering where I stood in the process.
