      Outside Sales Representative Interview

      7 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paycom (Portland, OR) in Nov 2017

      Interview

First interview was a cake walk with the recruiter. Second interview was in person also a cake walk with the site manager. I have several years of sales experience and am a min the top 5% at the company I am with. That’s why I found it strange that the manager said they don’t usually hire people with prior experience. Why wouldn’t you want to hire the best candidates? I went to the third interview which is the working interview. I get there early and they are in their morning meeting they invite me in. I sit patiently and to my surprise another candidate arrives as well. A college aged kid very inexperienced. I was thrown back a bit and felt it was very unprofessional of the recruiter not to mention they were pitting me up against another candidate. The kid gets up can’t speak his throat goes dry. I grab him some water and let him finish his presentation. I get up and make mine. We get to making our phone calls to make appointments. They give me a list of companies to call. As I start calling I realize this list has been called 100 times over in the last 90 days. I brush it off and make 2 solid appointments one being with a company that has 4500 employees. Regardless of the fact that I made as many appointments as any of the other actual employees (the other employees were actually asking me for tips and advice) they tell me it’s time to go. They let the kid stay and try get his 3rd appointment. The recruiter tells me they will be in contact with me the next day. Crickets, I hear nothing finally three days later I try reaching out to her. No response for another 2 days. Finally she responds with an email letting me know I didn’t get the job(no surprise at this point) but that they really cared about my opinion of the process. She gave me a link to leave them a review of the process. The link was dead!!!!! How do you send someone an email stating you care and then send them a dead link?!?! This place is a joke. I interviewed at the Portland office and am contemplating reporting them to BOLI for their labor practices. They had no intention of hiring for the position they simply have candidates continuously interview to get free appointment setters. If you have any sort of self respect you will pass on even applying. Another thing they require all employees to fill out a positive glass door review. Which in hindsight makes complete sense since all of their reviews were so glowing. You actually get written up if you don’t! This place is a nightmare....
