I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Pearl in Dec 2023
Interview
Worst Experience!!!
First round: coding.
there were 3 questions
1. one was easy-med i guess greedy problem
2, second was medi on disjoint set kind of problem
3. one has to write SQL query was also easy using some group by
Second round: tech round
it was one of the easiest interview- i have faced
intially there was some discussion on my previous projects and later looked like panel has predefined list of questions
questions like
- diff between array and linkedlist
- diff between stack and queues
and so on i gave all the answer the panel also looked convinced
the very same day HR called that feedback is negative and when i asked about the area she mentioned "design/architecture" but interestingly there were no questions asked on architecture or design level
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- diff between array and linkedlist
- diff between stack and queues
I applied online. I interviewed at Pearl (Tampa, FL) in June 2022
Interview
I had 4 interviews. The interview took place online and took about 1 month. During the first conversation with the senior recruiter, I explained all my expectations and the desired salary, I was completely honest with the numbers and said that I did not want to waste my time and theirs if they could not offer me a certain minimum range. The recruiter said the company could live up to my expectations.
Communication with the engineering team and hiring manager went smoothly. I really liked the team, JustAnswer seems to have a great engineering team.
After the recruiter called me. I missed the call and she left a voice message. She said that they wanted to make an offer, but they could not give the desired salary. I called her back, but she didn't answer. I sent her a couple of emails during 4 days, but she did not answer. I was upset, I didn't understand what was going on. I decided to email the hiring manager to see if they were considering me as a candidate. I received a reply from a recruiter right after my email to the hiring manager. What was the problem to answer me before?
She offered a salary of $40,000 less than we agreed, and said that initially this was the maximum for this position. Of course, I rejected. I felt cheated and disappointed. It looks like the recruiter doesn't care about her candidates at all and it was a SENIOR recruiter.
Why did they do this 1 month interviewing process if they couldn't initially offer me the salary I wanted? Why they spent my time? Why did not answer my calls and emails?
Thank you for the feedback, while we strive to have a quick interview process and a great experience for all of our applicants there are factors that can cause the process to be longer than we would like such as schedule conflicts. Our compensation philosophy was designed and developed to ensure we are paying a competitive rate. We have compensation bands for each of our roles, but compensation is unique to each individual as we take into account an individual's previous experience, skill set and market location. We appreciate the feedback and will work to ensure this is discussed in more detail with our applicants.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pearl (Bengaluru) in July 2021
Interview
Monopoly of one person. It’s his decision only whether to select or reject candidate after so many rounds of interviews.
First round was solving some coding questions for 60 mins, I solved all. Got good feedback.
Then second round was for 90 mins with three persons, they had asked coding and questions, this rond also went pretty Well. All persons gave positive feedback.
Then next round they took on Saturday for 90 mins, it also went well.
Then I heard from HR after one week that feedback was not positive. I was 100% confident that I will clear this round.
Can I know the reason how one person can take decision to reject a candidate based on his personal interest? You guys should give proper reason, because I’m seriously not convicted with this decision.
