I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Pebl in June 2022
Interview
Everyone was extremely friendly. I usually heard back within a week after each interview.
1. Short zoom call without video. I was asked about my salary expectations, past experiences, etc.
2. Behavioral interview.
3. Coding interview.
4. Second coding interview.
5. Congratulatory phone call going over the offer.
The coding interviews were very reasonable. No inverted binary trees or anything like that. They are more interested in how you think and solve problems, so googling things was allowed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What are your salary expectations?
What is the biggest team you've ever worked on?
Do you have any questions for me?
What kind of environment do you thrive in?
What brings you down?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pebl (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2023
Interview
The initial screen was a Woven assessment, which was 3 parts, a debugging problem, a coding problem, and a code review problem. After that you are sent to an onsite, this can range from 2-4 interviews based on what the recruiter told me. The behavioural / leadership interview asked 5-6 questions. The questions that were asked were worded in a very strange way.
System design is very standard.
In the technical interview I was given an very open ended question, which required a lot of probing to understand the solution. Unfortunately my interviewer had no interest in me from the get go. I would ask questions, and get no response, or if I was lucky: "yes", "no", or " I don't know". The interviewer was clearly working on something else in the background. This lead to me failing to solve the technical challenge. After the interview I asked a few questions, the interviewer struggled to find anything good to say about the company, or why they liked working there.
I got a very negative feeling from the interviewers on the onsite. They seemed cold, distant and like they had other things that they would rather be doing. I received a rejection but I would have turned down the offer based off the on-site
