I'm at the point in my career where my experience and reputation should speak for my skills and it's borderline insulting to be asked to take a copyediting/proofreading test. But they required one for this position, so I took it and apparently passed because I moved on to the interview. The copyediting one was fine, but the proofreading one was ridiculous. I don't understand why they manipulate the chapter to have so many errors, an amount that no set of proof will ever have. I don't think it's fair to ask potential employees to spend unpaid time on these manipulated tests.
