I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in July 2012
Interview
The interview started with Human Resources. They are the gatekeepers and they'll grill you on your resume, experience, your knowledge of the company as well as your interest in working for them. I don't remember all of the questions I was asked, but they will ask you some of the typical, hard questions you can expect from most interviews (such as the greatest weakness, a time you faced a challenge and how you worked through it, and etc.).
After the HR interview I then interviewed with my now boss. Many of the questions my boss asked were similar, but not as difficult as the HR interview.

Question 1
Human Resources narrows in on specific parts of your resume and will ask you to elaborate on them, and how that experience is applicable to the position for which you're applying.
There were many steps in the process, including allowing the company to contact five of my professional references. Meanwhile, the company provided minimal feedback when they ultimately rejected my application after several rounds of interviews.

Question 1
Describe a time you encountered conflict in the workplace and how you worked to resolve it.
I applied online. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (London, England) in Oct 2017
Interview
Through an online platform where you record answers and they are sent to employers. I was told they would get back to me after a week. 4 weeks later and I've had no response, even after sending chase-up e-mails. I find the ghosting really offensive, if someone is going to go to the trouble of preparing for an interview for a company they are excited to work for, at least have the decency to tell them no.

Interview
Met with the HR person and then the person I would be assisting. I did take test on Photoshop and InDesign which was surprising but made sense for the position.
