After applying online, I was contacted by the supervisor and invited to come in for an interview. The position's supervisor conducted the interview. I was asked about my background and experiences, very general, then he asked "where are you at in your walk with God?" I answered that I was a Christian, attended a Methodist Church. His response was strange..."oh (pause)....Do you... like that? (Note: yes, some people think Methodists are Christians, too). It was strange. Next, when he asked if I had any questions, I asked him what he had learned about God from working there (figured this was fair, given the tone he had set). He did not answer, but rather talked about what a privilege it was to set an example as a Godly man to women who had suffered abuse. Again, nothing about God, humility, his own identification with the vulnerability of his clients/common humaniry. Later, I sent a thank you note and never received a reply of any kind.
