      Pump Mechanic Interview

      25 June 2023

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pierce Manufacturing (Appleton, WI) in June 2023

      Interview

It was an on-site hiring event. 50+ people showed up and overall what was supposed to be a 30 minute process took nearly 2 hours. I filled out an application on indeed, but when I showed up I was told I needed to submit my application formally on their website. They guided groups of 12+ people into a computer lab and had us all submit our applications, because the indeed posting did not include this requirement. Once we had completed our applications we were led into the break room of the facility and there was an employee standing at the front answering questions. We continued waiting as the hiring managers took people in 1 or 2 at a time. Once I got to the interview it did seem like they were trying to get through it and asking straight to the point questions, overall the interview itself was professional. I left feeling like I really wanted to work there, unfortunately I did not get the job even though I felt like the interview went well. They even jokingly said "alright you're hired", which now looking back seems a bit unprofessional since I did not in fact get hired and I am bummed about it. One thing I am upset about is that they did not explain to me why I didn't get the job, as I saw people who walking in with a graphic T shirt, no resume, a baseball hat, sunglasses, and jeans on who were offered a job instantly. However I showed up wearing clean business casual, fresh haircut and shave, my resume and cover letter in a professional binder, and was perfectly qualified. I had to wait 5 days to hear back, they emailed me at 3am on a Saturday.
