      Video Editor Interview

      9 Sept 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Evesham, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at PinPointMedia (Evesham, England) in July 2021

      Interview

Two stages, but I had it spilt into three because staff had to self isolate. First stage was an initial video interview which lasted about 30 minutes. I was interviewed by the Production Manger & Lead Video Editor. Both were extremely friendly, & put me at ease fairly quickly. Left the interview feeling pretty positive, & had a good experience. The second stage is a in person interview & test edit. Unfortunately I had to do my test edit remotely, & then had the in person interview the following week. The test edit task was really well thought out, with a detailed brief explaining what was required without holding the editors hand. I enjoy it immensely, & it was great way to showcase my skill set. The following week I had the in person interview, & I was there for a couple of hours. During this time I was given feedback on my test edit, a tour around the office & got to chat with the whole team. It was a lot of fun, & everyone was very welcoming & friendly. I left the interview feeling very happy about the whole experience, & impressed with the company as a whole. I was successful, & got the job. But even if I wasn’t, the whole experience would have still been a positive one. Extremely well thought out process, which clearly took a lot of time & effort. It really impressed me, & was a big reason I wanted to work there.

      Video Editor Interview

      5 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cheltenham, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PinPointMedia (Cheltenham, England) in Jan 2021

      Interview

Complete waste of time. Spent my whole morning editing for them performing a trial shift. Talking to me as if I was going to get hired, giving me tour around the office just to decline me without a reason why. Upon request for feedback they just declined. It feels like they used me for some free editing work. If there was a logical reason I would not mind but this kind of behaviour is unacceptable nowadays.

The morning was based as a editing trial shift.

The second stage of our video editor application is a test edit. We ask candidates to come to our office for 2-3 hours and edit archive footage. We ask candidates to come for this length of time so that they have sufficient time to provide a quality edit that is a good representation of their skill level. All candidates are notified of the length of time in advance of the session. We use archive footage for this interview stage, as it allows us to directly compare the candidates edit against the edit already created by our internal team and signed off by the client. Test edits are an opportunity for us to see the standard of editing of candidates and directly compare their skills with that of our internal team. It also gives candidates an opportunity to visit our offices and meet the team, which we feel is an important stage of the application process both for us and for candidates. We are happy to provide feedback to any candidates at any stage of our interview process. However, having looked through our emails with all candidates for this position, none directly asked us for feedback. Please email Bethan Wyatt on Bethan.wyatt@pinpoint-media.co.uk if you would like feedback on any stage of your application.
