I applied through university. I interviewed at Piper Sandler (New York, NY) in Oct 2014
Interview
First round fit interview followed by superday. I was selected through on campus recruiting and contacted for a first round interview shortly after. HR department is good - they were swift in returning my emails and phone calls. Piper is a good hiring process. Just be prepared to the letter for the expected questions and you should be just fine.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Define what an investment banker is in 2 sentences.
Decent difficulty, good amount of technical questions as well as basic behavioural, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Really know your story and why this firm in particular. Technicals should be pretty sharp
After passing the first round, I was invited to a Superday where I completed several back-to-back interviews with senior bankers, focusing on technical skills like valuation methods, financial statements, and behavioral questions about teamwork and problem-solving. Additionally, I was given a technical assessment to build a simple financial model and analyze a hypothetical investment scenario.
medium difficulty. one technical round and a few personal rounds. went through a hiring team and were pretty reciprocative. interviewed for the consumer investment banking vertical. did not get offer.
