Interview
Cringe. Unprofessional. I'm hugely disappointed as this is a great opportunity and company. Quite simply, The employee I spoke with was wholly unprepared. It took a number of attempts for the initial meeting to take place as I had been sent the wrong links/contacts. It took several email and phone calls to resolve, and the employee shared she was new and still getting used to which responses needed to be sent out when. Which is fair - we've all been new! During the initial screen she blatantly read from a script and struggled to take notes as I gave answers. It was clear she had not taken time to review my CV, LinkedIn, etc before the conversation. I paused several times. I checked for understanding. when she repeated the answers back they were largely inaccurate. I provided clarification and offered to give additional examples, which was met with irritation. at this point she started to emphasize that she was speaking to a number of people and there would be a short-listing of candidates. she made mention she would be presenting my profile to the hiring manager. and he would decide, based on what she shared and how she positioned my profile. I knew in that moment I would not be short-listed. A combination of inexperience, misunderstanding, and perhaps wanting to prevent this coming to light. As expected, less than 24 hours later I received notification that I was not selected to the next stage. A shame.
