      Graduate Software Developer Interview

      12 Oct 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Playtech (London, England) in Sept 2016

      Interview

It was a quite relaxed process. First, the HR asked some basic questions (tell me about yourself, why you want to work with us, what do you know about the company) and then 2 members of the development team asked technical questions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The questions were around Linux (type of error messages produced by the server, name some commands, and others), networking (naming errors that come up when typing in a website, and others), relational databases and SQL (write some queries based on two simple tables), programming (find errors on a sample piece of script).

      Interview

I interviewed with Playtech London in March 2022. Overall, the experience was negative. I applied for the job through LinkedIn and was contacted by a recruiter shortly after. He set up an online interview with a more junior and a senior developer from Playtech. On the day of the interview, the senior developer was 5-10 minutes late, so the junior developer and I had to kill time with small talk. Very unprofessional. To be fair, the junior dev seemed cool though. Once the senior developer arrived, I could tell immediately that he had a really bad attitude. It seemed like he just did not want to deal with interviewing candidates. He didn't turn on his camera, was very difficult to understand since his mic volume was very low and on top of that he had a very strong Scottish accent which is not easy to understand for me as I am not a native English speaker. Throughout the interview, he was surprisingly rude and impatient which made the whole interview process uncomfortable. This makes me wonder, if he acts like this when interacting with a complete stranger, how bad must it be when you become part of the team? It seems like he doesn't respect other people's time and does not grant them a basic level of respect. I wonder what this says about Playtech's company culture. At the end, I was promised by the recruiter as well as the two devs that I will receive feedback on my interview performance regardless of the outcome. I have never heard from them again. Very strange experience.

      Graduate Developer Interview

      12 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Oldham, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Playtech (Oldham, England) in Oct 2019

      Interview

Applied through recruitment agency, invited for the interview at Intelligent Gaming branch in Chadderton, Oldham. I have been interviewed by 3 , asking what I know about company, what I have done during university, the cliche question where do I see myself in 5 years, also they provided information on what they do and what would be my duties if accepted. There was a test with questions related to SQL and PHP/JAVAscript (they allowed me to answer in JAVA though as I did not have experience in PHP/JAVAscript). After some time I get a call from my recruiter which I missed and again in about 1 hour, when she told me that they provided positive feedback about me and that they made me an offer, following to get the official letter after I accept the offer. The next day I get a call again from my recruiter, asking me what I think about the offer and I told her that I was still looking for a rent in the area but I was most likely to accept it, after another 1-2 hours I get a call from her telling me that they withdrew the offer without giving any feedback, I had sent after another couple of hours and email asking if they provided feedback and I was told that they rushed to offer me the role without discussing much about it, and after reading the notes, they felt I was not enthusiastic about the role.
