It's a Singapore based startup, and they are hiring in India as a remote candidate. There is no office in India.
They have a long way to go! HR is good and friendly but technical round experience was just poor.
1. The technical interview I had was very difficult. Not because of the questions but because of the accent + the way the interviewer spoke. He was from Vietnam, so, I understand, he is not native English speaker. but then why put such a person for the interview for an international job role? It's not fair for the candidate and nor for the company. I was literally struggling trying to understand what he was saying. And he looked like he was in a hurry.
2. Expectation from the candidate: I am not a Software developer now, I am a sales/solutions engineer. I felt that the interviewer did not go through my resume either or he had some confusion about my profile. Instead of asking what I am doing or good at, he had a certain set of questions which he just wanted to ask. He wanted someone expert in API automation, If I was an expert in API automation or Postman, I would have written the same on my resume.
Even though I had used Postman and API automation almost 3 years back and haven't used them recently since I am into Sales/Solutions Engineering roles. I was able to answer all questions correctly. God knows what interviewer understood or had in mind.
Anyway, I wish the company all the best.
