      Interview

Only leaving a review because this was one of the FUNNIEST interviews I’ve had! Responded to an extremely vague, one sentence Craigslist ad in broken English. They ask to meet me at 10:00. I show up and a worker gives me an application but my interviewer doesn’t show for about 40 minutes so I was awkwardly walking around the store fixing things up. Business was booming however and they got very busy. My lady finally shows, she is an older Asian lady and we sit down, I’ll admit I couldn’t understand her in combination of her accent and how *quiet* she was whispering in a store full of noisy customers. So a lot of the time I’m leaning in like, “sorry what?” And there were some misunderstandings, like when I said at my last job I mainly did phone reception and did Sales the phone, she didn’t understand what that was, I explained I was on the computer mainly. Then she goes “Ah!” Puts her clipboard down. “You see, people on computer nooooo good at talking to PEOPLE!” Now she just dismissed my 9 years of customer service/retail experience on my resume, heard I did customer service one year through a computer but thought I was some sort of anti social homebody. I was internally laughing at the language barrier but she actually continued to lecture me on how people who use computers don’t understand how to “sell things.” I’m a graphic design student that has to work with clients and marketing. BUT I held my tongue, my dad is Filipino and I KNOW not to disrespect my Asian elders mid-lecture so I just let her tear apart my career choices hahah. When she was done she told me hang on, her coworker was going to talk with me. Who was the only cashier working out there. So I sit and wait, but it gets so busy she gets back there about 25 mins later, “WE ARE TOO BUSY CAN YOU LEAVE FOR LIKE AN HOUR!” She was red and flushed so I ran out quick and just say in my car. I get back and the store is empty and the white lady sits back with me, she’s red and sweating really bad I ask if she’s okay and she tells me she’s going thru hot flashes and proceeds with the interviews while profusely fanning herself. So as she’s asking questions her sweat smell is kind of wafting over to me and there was one moment I got nauseated mid sentence and did a HUGE gagging noise. She stopped fanning and I’m like ..”oh I’m getting so hot as well.” She’s like I KNOW! Now here and there she would have passive aggressive things to say about her job and the customers. I told her crazy customer stories which was fun and she told me some too but she would add things like “and then I contemplate strangling them!” With a giant grin. It was funny because she looked so jolly and nice but just hated her job lol. So when the interview wrapped up, I told her I hope things get better for you, and she kept fanning herself and said “ohhh I’ll be fine as long as I shoot myself!” So overall this was the strangest yet more hilarious random interview of.my.life. Thank you Postal Annex for the amazing experience with this overstressed crew hahah five stars all around! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
