I applied online. I interviewed at Primer (Dublin, Dublin) in May 2026
Interview
The first part of the interview process was positive. I had an initial conversation and then a good interview with the Technical Integrations Manager. The discussion was professional, relevant, and gave me a better understanding of the role and team.
However, the later stage of the process was disappointing. After receiving positive feedback, I was asked to complete a take-home task and prepare a presentation for a follow-up interview. I spent time preparing and submitting the task, and the presentation session was scheduled. The interview was then rescheduled, and shortly afterwards I was informed that the role had already been offered to another candidate and was being closed.
From a candidate perspective, this felt poorly handled. If the company was already close to offering the role to another candidate, candidates should not be asked to spend time on a task and presentation that will not be reviewed or discussed. Take-home tasks require real time and effort, and the process should respect that.
Overall, the people I spoke with were professional, but the final stage of the process felt unstructured and disrespectful of candidate time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me to complete a take-home task related to a technical product/integration scenario and prepare it for discussion in a follow-up presentation. The task required thinking through the integration approach, key flows, assumptions, and how the solution would fit into the broader product. The role was closed before the presentation took place.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback, and I'm sorry for the experience you've described. What you've outlined is absolutely not in line with the standards we hold ourselves to.
This isn't representative of how we want to treat candidates. I've reached out to you directly to make things right, and would genuinely like to explore continuing the process with you for another role. We're also looking into what happened here internally so it doesn't happen again.
I want to reassure you that this falls short of who we are, and we appreciate you giving us the chance to address it.
