      HR Generalist Interview

      14 June 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Prodly in Jan 2023

      Interview

I was contacted by an HR executive for a first interview. During the interview, the HR executive excessively praised my experience and repeatedly emphasized how great a fit I would be for the role. He made a huge deal out of the benefits package and tried to sell me on the work/life balance. I then moved on to a second interview with the senior HR executive. In the second interview, the senior HR executive asked me numerous back-to-back questions about engineering concepts in rapid-fire style. None of the questions were relevant to the HR job I was being interviewed for, so naturally my responses were not perfect. She picked apart and criticized every response I gave, clearly lacking the self-awareness to realize that the questions were not at all related to the job opening or my expertise. She bragged about disrespecting the CEO to his face and said she can talk to him however she wants because she is not afraid of him. She bragged about the CEO Max Rudman asking her why she is not afraid of him, and said that if he doesn't like it, she can easily find another job. After this interview, I was asked to complete a homework assignment, "Pooh's Home Renovation." The assignment involves resource allocation and time management. They give you a list of fake employees inspired by Winnie the Pooh and ask you to assign a piece of home renovation work to each employee within a very specific set of guidelines and restrictions. Once again, this homework assignment was 100% irrelevant to HR the role I was interviewing for. Nonetheless, I took several hours of my personal time to complete this work and submitted a very good product, after which they ghosted me. This is by far the most unprofessional interviewing experience I have ever had and I regret letting them waste so much of my time. This HR team is unprofessional, lacks respect for their executive leadership team, and is inconsiderate of candidates' time and clueless about what it takes to make a great HR professional. I do not recommend applying to work with Prodly.

As the newly appointed HR Manager at Prodly, I appreciate your feedback regarding your interview experience. While I understand your perspective, I would like to provide some additional insights. In my experience, the questions posed by the senior executive were directly relevant to the HR role, allowing candidates to showcase their skills and abilities. The homework assignment, although it may have seemed unrelated at first, aimed to assess important qualities such as time management and organizational skills that are valuable in the fast-paced HR environment.
