I applied online. I interviewed at Protochips (Morrisville, NC) in Apr 2018
Interview
They set up some phone interviews, followed by a WebEx interview. I didn't get past the WebEx interview, so I don't know what would have come next. The WebEx interview was very strange, because my webcam was running, but theirs wasn't. I realized this was very awkward. I was talking to six people at the same time. They all had something to look at, but I had nothing to look at. With no one to make eye-contact with, I ended up talking while looking off into space. I wondered whether this was intentional, because the most important people in the room did not introduce themselves, or say anything at all. It was like they wanted me "on display" for them to scrutinize. It felt like one of those interrogations in a movie where the interrogators are shining a bright light on you, or they're behind a one-way mirror or something, keeping their anonymity while at the same time making me as uncomfortable and as visible as possible. I can't say for sure if this was their intent, but I felt the need to share it here in case others experienced the same thing, because if it really was their intent to make me feel that way, then they are a company run by sociopaths, and no one should want to work there.
