I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Public Storage (Houston, TX) in June 2016
Interview
Simply a STAR method. Had a phone interview that was a joke followed by a video interview (my first and probably did poor). One of my greatest strengths is communication so in person interviews have never been an issue. It's not big brother, it's a people business. I've managed multiple stores for Fortune 500's with over 200 people so I'm left with an assumption that I just don't have the look they want or my current position as a VP may have them worried of me jumping ship which I've never done to companies who deserve my skill sets. The money is simply a lateral move (75K plus annual bonuses) and not an issue but hey at least the HR ladies are good looking blondes.

The Interview was quick, but very intentional. He started off with stating what the salary was, and what it came with. He was very upfront and interested in my most previous role
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Public Storage (Roanoke, VA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Applied online. Had to do a virtual job tryout. Then recruiter contacted me to set up a time for an initial interview. Recruiter started out strong saying this would be straight to the point and quick. That this job doesnt exist and its a "just in case" role to put you in the pipeline. Told me what the compensation was and its a take it or leave it situation. Theres no negotiation. Recruiter asked if i had experience with direct reports. I told her yes and she asked how many. Then she asked how many i currently have in my current job. I have no direct reports in my current role so she ended the interview even tho i have had upwards of 100 direct reports before. She did not care about my past district manager experience, only current. Received rejection email two days later.
I applied online. I interviewed at Public Storage (Denver, CO) in Apr 2026
Interview
The interview process has five different interviews. I love the in depth process. It starts with a half hour phone interview. Proceeds to a 2 hour in person interview. Proceeds to a 3 hour ride a long. Proceeds to another rin person interview and ends with a zoom interview.
I spent a total of 9 hours combined in interviews and 3 hours round trip travel time for my in person. Was only sent a form letter rejection and was ghosted when asked for feedback.
