      Site Reliability Engineer Interview

      10 Dec 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Puffy (Los Angeles, CA) in Sept 2025

      Interview

Standard interview loop for big tech. Started with a remote round followed by several in-person rounds. Included leetcode-style coding questions, one system design round, and one behavioral round. No major surprises in the process. The only notable thing is their process moves quite slowly. The interviewers were sharp and you could tell they're working on interesting technical challenges, especially with their AI-focused infrastructure.

Design a monitoring system for distributed services with automatic alerting and failover mechanisms.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Puffy (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Six onsite rounds covering a broad range of SRE topics. A lengthy process that tests both technical depth and endurance. Some rounds felt more conversational than evaluative, but overall a good opportunity to demonstrate systems knowledge and problem-solving ability across different scenarios. The technical questions themselves were interesting and relevant to real-world SRE challenges.

      Question 1

You have shell access to a machine where the PID limit is exhausted — how do you diagnose and identify the root cause using only shell builtins?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Puffy (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2025

      Interview

The interview process was fairly structured and professional. It began with an initial screening call from a recruiter, followed by one or more rounds of interviews with team members or hiring managers. The questions were a mix of behavioral, situational, and role-specific technical questions. You can tell everyone there is super sharp and they're really pushing hard on the AI side of things.
