I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Pulumi (Greenwich, CT) in Jan 2026
Interview
Caution: This was a ridiculous time waste for me.
First I met with the recruiter, hiring mgr and 2 technical people. The 5th step was to produce a slide deck for a role play case study sales presentation. The recruiter told me obviously I don't work here - rather we want to understand how you monetize, present and close.
Unfortunately, the 3 people portraying the customer for the role play did not know this. They kept on hitting me with a number of questions which they know I cannot possibly know (since I don't work there, nor at a competitor). I felt like they wanted to show me how much they know about the IOC market. What got me upset over this company is apparently they love to spend time interviewing people but have no value for my time (seriously 5 interviews & 6 people ?!). I spent 5 hours producing a custom slide deck and had 4 interviews prior to the case study.
If they want to hire from a competitor - just do it. If they want to promote from within - just do it. But STOP asking candidates to invest 5 hrs preparing custom slides for your case study & then have the arrogance to ding the candidate on information they cannot possibly know because they don't work there (or at least have the courage tell your TA people to share this with the candidates & let the candidate decide if this seems like a winner).
For me - what this means is I get to have continued success elsewhere.

Interview
1. Phone screen with the recruiter
2. Screening call with the manager.
Mostly a skills review from the resume. Described their CI/CD process and asked way I would improve them. It was a good talk and I made it thru to the next round.
3. Scheduled 4 rounds with the team.
- 3.1 Was with the PM. Discussed more of the same stuff as with the HM. Things to improve, communicating with others etc.
- 3.2 Was with a software engineer. Again skillz test, discussed CI/CD for their docs infra,
- 3.3 Was with a software engineer. He asked me to write a func to recursively find *.md files in a repo, read the file to find doc links in them, check if they exist. I did not do very well.
They rejected me here and did not proceed.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pulumi (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2024
Interview
Lengthy, I think I had 5-6 intervews including a presentation where I was told I did good. Then had an interview after where I was told they liked me a lot. Then learned I did not get the job because they said I did the presentation to a Director level role not a VP. When my instructions were to choose either.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I do not recall them asking a ton of questions and my working to get them talking. They mostly asked about sales methodology.
