I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at QinetiQ (Reston, VA) in Feb 2024
Interview
The interviewers were professional and cordial. They seemed supportive. However I am notoriously bad at interviewing. I whiffed the easy questions they asked. About a week later I had another interview and took an offer to do almost exactly the same thing.
I since heard from the recruiter the position was unfunded and I did not hear back because they were trying to pivot. Personally I am pleased with the outcome. I think the lesson here is you often have very little visibility into the mindset of the interviewers. Don't get discouraged, just move on.

I applied in-person. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at QinetiQ (Las Vegas, NV) in June 2008
Interview
I worked for a research team that provided software for their main project, so I was a known entity. Had an informal interview with the project manager and development team manager, and a formal programming interview with the programming team. Interviews lasted about 4 hours total. Got an offer within a week of the interview.
