The recruiter told me they "didn't have a budget set" when I asked what the compensation & base salary range for the role was. This was after countering to her question of what my "expectations" were. I was blown away that she either a) was serious and they didn't have this role actually budgeted or b) that she was lying and simply just caught off guard by me asking for that info from her without giving her my expectations first. Both unacceptable in my book. The recruiter also acted offended that I applied for two very similar positions that were posted on Qualtrics' careers page. They had nearly identical descriptions but one had a physical location and one had a remote location. I told her that I wanted to discuss if they were the same or if they were different positions (both of which I was more than qualified for on paper based on the descriptions) and she responded to me acting as if I wasn't clear on what I was applying for or what I wanted to do in my next career move (which is not the case, at all). Overall, the recruiter seemed very inexperienced, asked very canned quantitative questions and was unable to clearly and confidently answer any of the questions I had (which were not the basic "tell me about the culture" questions). I would never want to interview here again based on this poor experience.
