      Accounting Clerk Interview

      21 Jan 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Quinn Emanuel (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2023

      Interview

Parking validation, which is nice as downtown can be a bit crazy. All communication was through a recruiter, which I'll talk about more at the end. When I am at a building I am always asked to use the restroom so that I can walk around the office and see the work environment. The Office is artsy with lots of art, yet lots of hipsters which makes me think that it is not an equal opportunity employer/pretentious, as the staff was a bit cooky cutter and there were hipsters in every corner. I read many reviews online about how there was no work and life balance, favoritism, and a cutthroat environment with the firm but I went with an open mind to see if I was proven wrong. The staff that I did get to see looked overworked and on edge (stressed). Two managers are asking questions. The interview went well but I believe one of the hiring managers doing the interview were looking for an apple polisher than a competent candidate for the job. After the general job questions, the interviewer Changed her tone to a defensive and a bit aggressive tone when I asked how long they'd been working with the firm and how many job titles they held. One of the hiring Managers only had 7 months, which gave the impression of a high turnover. The little that I witnessed made a big difference and this was not a company I did not want to work for. The Young lady that walked me out to the elevator ignore me and walked away when I was thanking her for the interview and time. All communication was through a recruiter who was extremely helpful. However, a red flag, as the firm relies on an outside party to get staff, (implying a high turnover)the employer made no effort to contact me to express interest in an interview or even provided a follow-up notice after the interview. This is to note that I followed up with the corresponding emails before and after the interview. Easy interview but interviewers had zero interest to bring in talented individuals. Word of advice to stop a high turnover environment, keep your employees happy and try to retain talented individuals.
