I had a very odd interview experience with RESPEC. Some of the weirdness can be chalked up to summer vacations and timing, but a lot of it had to do with poor communication.
I had an initial interview with the hiring team first because the HR rep was on vacation. During this interview, I made a point of asking about time zones since this is a remote role. I was told I would be able to work in the time zone in which I live. A few weeks after the initial interview and test, I was contacted by their HR rep who was back from vacation and asked to meet for a “benefits discussion.” It turns out this was another panel interview that I was completely unprepared for because I had told it would just be an HR benefits overview. It also was brought up that the job would require me to work in a different time zone. When I mentioned this information contradicted what I was told during the first interview, I was lightly gaslit by one of the women who was in the first interview and told we hadn’t discussed that. I am 100% positive we did because I took extensive notes during both interviews. The meeting was awkward because of these lapses in communication on their end, and I was sent an automated rejection email riddled with errors. I followed up asking for feedback, and got ghosted. This felt like a very unprofessional interview experience due to miscommunication and a lack of professionalism on the company’s side.
