      Flight Attendant Interview

      3 June 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Indianapolis, IN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Republic Airways (Indianapolis, IN) in May 2016

      Interview

I applied for the position on May 6. On May 23 I got an invite from Spark Hire to do a video interview. I did the interview on May 28, and on June 1 I got a congratulations e-mail that I was hired and was asked to complete a background check. I did it around 10 pm that night, June 1, and the afternoon of June 2 I was called to schedule training and then was e-mailed most of the new hire paperwork. There is no face to face nor open house event, probably because the airline is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is trying not to spend money. They hire you off your video interview from what I saw on another website too. With that said, don't let Chapter 11 scare you off. The company is stable and will emerge at the end of the year. I went through Chapter 11 at Delta when I was in airport operations and look where Delta is now with record profits. It was a very quick process and very easy interview. Seven questions. For all but the final question you have one take but the time doesn't start until you hit record. So you have unlimited time to form the answer in your head and just make sure you can make it clear and concise, then record your answer when it's "coherent." LOL. Make sure you use that time after the question to get your head right so you don't screw it up or ramble. On the above and beyond question it almost cut me off because I wasn't getting to the end fast enough but I got it all in. For the final question (How would you co-workers and customers describe you) you have unlimited takes. What I did was practice, then record, then listened to the playback. Then I did it again a second time. I still wasn't satisfied, so I brought my wife in to listen to me answer it. We then reviewed that recording together, she said I sounded good that time (the third time) and so I submitted my answer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to be a flight attendant for Republic Airways? What are your best qualifications for this position? What do you think is the most challenging thing about being a flight attendant? Name a stressful situation you encountered at work and how did you handle it? Name a time you went above and beyond for a customer. Tell me a “do-over” you wish you had. How would you say your co-workers/clients and customers describe you?

      Interview

Watched a video explaining the role and company values. Then, there was an opportunity to practice recording. Make sure you look into the camera, and not at yourself! Most of the questions you are only allowed to record once. The question is presented, and you are giving 1-2 minutes to prepare your response.

      Interview

Virtual recorded responses. About six questions, the question appeared on the screen, there's a countdown, then you must record your response. Some questions we're a timed for one minute with one minute to respond. Some allowed more time to respond.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Republic Airways in May 2025

      Interview

One-way video interview—2 minutes prep time for each question, 2 minutes allowed for each response, no retakes. There was an 11-minute intro video that discussed the company's background, mission, culture statement, scheduling, and pay expectations. This was followed by a 2.5-minute tutorial on how to record and submit responses. There was also an opportunity to do a practice recording before beginning, so that was helpful. It was very awkward to talk directly to the camera without a person there, so be prepared for that, but it was good practice and a learning experience if nothing else. I recommend recording yourself responding to interview questions before sitting down to do the interview.
