I applied through university. I interviewed at Restorsea (New York, NY)
Interview
very straightforward, nothing out of the ordinary. if you prepare beforehand the most basic, standard questions, you will be well prepared. they usually begin with a phone interview and might ask you to come in as well to meet in person. however, it's not too intimidating or difficult.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Restorsea in Jan 2014
Interview
I wish I had read the reviews before accepting an interview request. The interview was a waste of time.
The interview process seemed straightforward at first. I was contacted by the company and they asked a hypothetical question and wanted to see how I would solve it. After submitting my answer, they asked for me to come in and interview with the CEO/Founder. I learned that the CEO/Founder's assistant would be present for the interview as well.
As mentioned in the company reviews, the CEO/Founder is crazy. At first I thought her condescending attitude was a test to see how candidates would perform if they were put in a stressful or abusive situation. However, as the interview continued I realized this was not a test and that's just the company's personality.
We agreed to end the interview early when it was clear this wasn't going to be a good fit for either side.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
They had started the interview by asking what questions I had for them. Which is fine, it gave me a chance to show how I had prepared for the interview. But when it came time to demonstrating the value I could bring to their company, I had to pose it in question form. It was like an odd game of Jeopardy. They didn't ask any questions until I was ready to cut the interview short.
Towards the end of the interview they finally started asking questions. All of the questions were "loaded" questions.
For example: "Why do you want to leave your current company?"
As opposed to: "Why do you want to apply to work here?"
