      Implementation Specialist, Benefits Interview

      24 June 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Rippling in June 2026

      Interview

I had an initial recruiter interview that went very well and then a 2nd interview with the manager whom I really enjoyed and went very well as well. Then came the 3rd interview. They give you access to a demo benefits system and ask you to do a mock demo of onboarding a new client. I was given 13 different benefits, SBCs, rates, age bands, etc to set up and prepare. Came to the interview prepared to mock my way thru it. The guy didn't look at the benefits I set up at all. Didn't look at anything I actually did. Started diving into payroll questions on life insurance taxation and how that would be shown in payroll and then how to hide enrollment events etc. Was told before the interview that you will be expected to present the Insurance setup/configuration and provide me with an overview of the Benefits Administration App. Please ensure that the plans are configured prior to our meeting. We are not looking for perfection. But it was mainly then focused on two questions that I didn't know the answer to. Instead of the 98% I did get right or was able to find, in a system I had seen for one day and had absolutely no training in. The 'peer' who interviewed me was very insistent that he helped build this position from the ground up so he knew his stuff. He worked 12 hr days and his name in this business was very important to him. Then I got an automated declination email a day or two later. Asked for some feedback and finally got some. And it was directly related to those two questions I couldn't answer. Needless to say that whole 3rd interview left a bad taste in my mouth about it. Makes it seem like there is no training. They want someone who can come in, not have to ask any questions, and start on projects immediately.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Where can I see imputed income for basic life insurance (the $50K threshold and GTLI taxation), domestic partner imputed income, and LTD gross-up mechanics.
