The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Rippling in Apr 2024
Interview
Round 1: Coding
Solved the problem with 2 followups. Interviewer review was unable to solve part 1. Had to hint multiple times.
I was able to solve all the followups and 5 min were left.
Round 2: System Design
Did not do a great job but able to came up with design by discussing various concepts.
In reality, I started with asking clarifying questions, discussion around estimates (asked interviewer, whether he is interested in it or not). Then, he told me not to focus on APIs and data models. Directly jump into HLD.
Review was - after hearing the question candidate did jump directly into HLD. No clarifying questions asked. Needed discussion around APIs and data models (which he asked me to skip)
Round 3: API
Good review
1 phone screen followed by 3 onsite rounds - 1 coding, 1 behavioral, and 1 project deep dive. Questions were pretty straight forward and fair. I did not get the offer though since I was out of practice.
- Coding screening
If successful:
- 2 more coding interviews
- system design interview
- product design interview; power point with previous project presentation
- behavioural interview
- 2-3 references
Typical process, HR screen then coding round (phone screen). Another coding rounds onsite and a system design. Then a project deep dive and team match.
They allow you to use AI in the coding round, which was strange because its a typical leetcode-style question. Claude was able to one-shot it.
