I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at River Island in Jan 2015
Interview
My sister took in a CV for me (she works there) My sister told me about a month later that they had a recruitment event and that the manager had asked for me to come along. I went and wore casual clothes. There was about 8 other girls. Two people turned up late and two other people who were supposed to be there didn't show up. It was a female manager who did the recruitment event. We first said our names and why we wanted to work for river island. We then got split into two groups and had to discuss good and bad customer service and then presented it to the other group. We then got asked what cross-selling and up-selling was and got split into three groups to re-enact us cross-selling and up-selling, acting as either the customers or staff, which i found super cringey. We then got asked if we had any questions and i asked what she looked for when recruiting people which she replied "confidence". She asked 3 people to stay behind so she could "check some things on their applications that they had missed off". I then got a phone call 4 days later offering me the job and i said yes! When i started the job i found out they had hired 4 other of girls aswell as me, three where the ones who she asked to stay behind because she was actually offering them the job and the other girl got a phone call 10 minutes after the interview saying she had got the job.
