Great call with the recruiter.
Fantastic phone interview with the hiring manager.
Horrific in person interview with the team. They were (1) rude snobs (Q: Have you ever lived outside the Bay area? A: Yes, if you read my resume you will quickly see I have lived in other areas of the US as well as overseas) , (2) self proclaimed "liberals"- I mean, I am too but really, is that a discussion topic for an interview?!?, and (3) only 1 out of 4 interviewers had a skills or experience related question. In fact, the GC came in to the interview, told me he hadn't reviewed my resume and had no questions for me... then he asked me to ask him questions. My first question- generic yes- was : What are the strategic initiatives/goals for the legal department this year? His response: Huh? goals? I don't know what you mean. I guess help the company meet its revenue goals. Q: For example, a goal would be something like review and revise corporate code of conduct based on the UK Bribery Act coming into effect... A: Oh yeah, FCPA and UKBA seems to be a giant time waster and a bunch of hot air.
I sent a polite email to the hiring manager and recruiter and told them I was not interested in the position because I was not a right fit for the team.
