I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Robinhood
Interview
First is a code test which takes about an hour. Then a call with the recruiter to talk about normal things and make sure the salary location, etc is agreeable. Then a 1hr video live coding interview.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Initial code test was great
Code a implementation of javascripts `setInterval` function from scratch. Fun and useful code exercise.
Video chat code challenge was not.
It was to create a spiral loop over a N size matrix. It has no real-world use cases, and doesn't show nearly enough depth of your abilities. I have not once in 10years of coding, ever needed anything even close to this. I self taught myself coding and have worked for Google, CNN, etc. It was a purely computer science question. I think they are missing out on good and diverse talent because they only target CS grads.
