The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rocky View Schools (Airdrie, AB) in June 2024
Interview
The interview for RVS consists of various questions related to the TQS. The Principal/ assistant principal will ask the questions and type while you answer. This is then sent to HR who will make the final decision.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you create an inclusive learning environment in your classroom
Same as any other school interview. Asks how you handle specific situations, lots of what if questions. Rooted to the teaching quality standard and how you would approach each standard. Around 2-3 questions per standard. They usually have three predetermined questions and they pick one of them
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Rocky View Schools (Airdrie, AB) in May 2024
Interview
I got an email that went to my junk. Good thing I checked because they didn't call.
The interview was about 45 minutes and they asked questions about all sections in the TQS. Some were redundant. The ones that start with really long stories and then have a question are mind numbingly stupid. Just get to the question.
I had a principal and vice principal. No one from HR. They said we'd find out in about a week regardless of the decision. I didn't hear anything for over two weeks. Assumed I didn't get it. I did.
I was pretty 'lucky' I guess since it seems you really have to know someone in this division to get a job as a teacher. HR really needs to do a better job supervising.
