I prepared an application file with strong motivation to work at Roland. With my CV, I've also created a separate presentation explaining myself (being a musician and having the requested experience in detail) and of course a cover letter detailing why I could be suitable for this role. However about a month later I received an automated refusal response. I asked to HR why I was not considered, and the response was that I had not worked within the music industry.
My advice to future candidates: if there is a requirement stating that experience in the music industry is necessary, do not invest too much of your time as I did. As I could not know more from HR’s exact view, but even though I was meeting all listed criteria and having the relevant experience in product management, I was rejected by being outside the industry.
