I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Roots Automation in Feb 2026
Interview
Was recruited via LinkedIn for both a Sr SE role and a head of technical sales role. I made it clear throughout the interview process that I was applying for the head of TS role, which the interview process and questions asked of me indicated. Received an offer for the Sr SE role and was told they were never hiring for the head of TS role, but wanted me to come on and perform the tasks related to the head of TS role. Definitely bait and switch tactic. When I pushed back both the recruiter and hiring manager (head of sales) tried to gaslight me, but I had written proof of their intent to hire for the head of tech sales role.
Beyond that, the interviews were all rushed and left no time for me to ask questions. Had to push hard to get more than 30 min interview time slots.

Question 1
Recruiter screening
Discussion with hiring manager and current head of technical sales (on his way out of company)
Discussion with hiring manager 1:1
Interview with VP of AI
Interview with CEO
recruiter, hiring manager, loop, founder. Fairly quick but unstructured. All done virtually. JD seemed to change throughout the process. People were good overall but definitely need some maturity. I declined the offer.

Question 1
experience with AI solutions and client interaction
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Roots Automation in Aug 2024
Interview
I had the HR screen and that went really well so they advanced me to the technical interview. I was told the interview would be recorded and to expect technical questions regarding the position. The questions were actually fine but the issue was that the technical interview was just a recorded interview with the HR person. When I had questions that I needed elaboration on she could not accommodate because she’s not a technical resource. Very very impersonal and makes you feel like your time is not valued at all.
