I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Rotary (Evanston, IL) in Sept 2019

      Interview

The process was well-paced. I had three interviews: 1) my immediate supervisor, 2) my team, and 3) the director of the department. In each interview I was given ample time to discuss the role and ask any questions I had.

How would you make your team better? Why are you applying for this position? How do you handle difficult people?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Rotary (Evanston, IL) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I went through a phone interview and three in-person interviews over the span of three months. I was one of three final candidates for the job. Then, after all that, the hiring managers realized they didn't really know what they wanted and so they didn't hire anyone. When I reached out to someone with questions who would in theory have the right answers, I wasn't given any response. I tried multiple times and each time I was rudely ignored. They ended up re-posting the job recently and I contacted that same person again to see if I'd still be considered... still no response. I even went higher to her boss........no response there, either. There is a serious lack of professionalism at this company. If this is how they treat potential candidates, could you imagine how they treat their employees? They lack in common courtesy and are extremely unorganized with their intent. Avoid Rotary opportunities at all costs. I view this experience as a major bullet dodged.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me typical interviewing questions. Nothing irregular there. I did find that there is a lot of animosity between departments. When I asked about the culture at Rotary, I never felt like I got a straight answer or at the very least, a consistent one. I don't feel like people are generally happy there. If culture and collaboration is important to you as it is to me, then scratch Rotary off your list and move on.

We appreciate your interest in Rotary and for taking time to provide feedback. While the exact role you interviewed for is not discernible, it's presumable that the hiring manager had specific requirements that had not yet come to light during the interviews. Although we'd like all of our interview processes to be completed quickly, finding the right candidate remains a top priority for Rotary. We understand that interviewing requires valuable time and effort for candidates. Because of this, we make every effort to keep applicants up to date. For candidates that have taken the time to meet in person, we reach out via a phone call. We're sorry we missed you. Should you want to discuss any additional feedback, please don't hesitate to reach us at globalpeopleandtalent@rotary.org. - Global People and Talent Team
