      Interview

The Resident Assistant (RA's) hiring procedure is posted on the "Residential Learning & University Housing" website. There are four main stages in the hiring process. The first stage requires all interests applicants to attend an information sessions. Be sure to attend, and more importantly sign-in! The session itself has a panel of current RA's and professional staff members that describe what the job entails. A majority of the information session is a Q&A. The second stage is the application itself. The application package consists of a form, a cover letter, a resume, and two recommendation letters. The application form gives some specifics questions that should be addressed in the cover letter. Out of the two recommendation letters, one of them has to be from a Rowan Professional Staff member (so don't get two recommendation letters from two current RA's). The third stage is to attend two workshops. These workshops vary from topic to topic. Just go into these workshops with an open mind. They are structured similar to the training the hired RA's go through. Again, be sure to attend and sign-in! The fourth stage is the interview. The interview is set up with a panel of 3 to 6 members. The panel can consist of current RA's and professional staff members. The interview questions are structured to understand how you would perform in different situations that RA's go through. It doesn't hurt to know the policies, but it is not the most important thing. It is more important to talk about your personal experiences and strengths that you think are beneficial to fulfill the role.

      Question 1

A few questions are about diversity. It may catch you off guard because even if you encounter on a daily basis, you don't think about it very often.
