I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SFR3 in Feb 2024
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me on a job board website. I talked to the Director of the Risk Department and a senior engineer separately. Those conversations went well, in my opinion, and they seemed like friendly people. I was then given a case study, on which I worked for a week, and then presented it to a panel of people, including the Chief Product Officer.
I did not have a positive experience with the panel interview. The case study was more of a data analysis than a data engineer case study. During the case study, the CPO or the panel asked me no questions about the work I was presenting but a separate business problem that was not even part of the case study. If that was the plan all along, what was the point of the case study?
I am not sure they know what they are looking for or what they are asking in their own case study. I am also not sure they know what problem they are trying to solve. My advice would be not to spend too much time on the case study like I did because chances are they will mostly ignore it. All the best!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Search on GitHub with the title of the case study, and you will find it.
It concerns generating fake data about tenants, rent payments, and leasing. You will have to analyze the data. During the panel interview, they ignored the case study and the work and ended up asking how I could improve their maintenance processes.
