Question 1
What are the state-of-the-art techniques in this field? How does your method differ from theirs?
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at SRI International in Jan 2025
Interview
I had two interviews. First was a standard phone screen. Second was a presentation to the hiring manager and member of the team, followed by Q&A and follow-up discussion.
After the interviews, the hiring manager asked for letters of recommendation. They received the letters, and then told me that there was an issue with funding for the position that was causing a delay and that they would get back to me. I checked back in several times over the following weeks, but wasn't given any more information or context. Then they ghosted me and I haven't heard anything since.
Ghosting after requesting recommendation letters is straight up disrespectful to both me and my colleagues who vouched for me. Overall trash interviewing experience.

Question 1
I was asked to present some of my previous research that was relevant to the position.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SRI International
Interview
I was contacted 2 months ago with a 45min phone screening. Had a onsite interview at SRI, talking with 7-8 scientists and a giving a presentation before lunch. The conversations mostly concentrate on my research experience. Be careful when they ask about your interests on the projects in their group.

Question 1
Nothing difficult. One question about fitting a plane to a set of points in a 3D space.
