I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at SaaStr (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2023
Interview
I interviewed with the CEO and it was by far the most disrespectful experience I’ve ever had. Ask about this guy; he has a terrible reputation. He was completely abrasive and combative because I didn’t respond to his email over the weekend and on MLK day.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
You waited over the weekend before you accepted the interview, so why should we be interested in hiring you anymore?
I went through 2 writing exercises & 3 rounds of interviews. The first 2 interviews went great and they told me I was their top pick. Interview 3 was ridiculous. The interviewer was incredibly rude from the moment I got online. She scoffed at every answer I gave, argued with me, mentioned that she didn’t think this was a job for someone with a family (what?), and at one point when I asked her a question about company culture, said, “I really hate that question and I hate that you asked it.” Two days later I got a generic email that they’d gone with another candidate. When I asked for feedback since they had been so sure about me before, they ghosted.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SaaStr in July 2021
Interview
Extremely nebulous process. One of the more unfortunate processes I have been apart of, especially because the first call went so well. Seems like new interview steps are added often, and the majority of them were identical steps. I put a solid chunk of time into the interview, as there are interview projects (emphasis on the plural). After the final project, they just completely ghosted after 2-3 follow ups to figure out where I was in the process.
