I applied in-person. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in June 2017
Interview
I was approached by a member of their recruiting team on LinkedIn. I decided to take the call and hear more about them. When I dug a few lawyers deep I was impressed with what I saw. Ex Meraki founders and execs. The industry is HOT. Tech is solid. They have good glassdoor reviews. Things looked promising and i was genuinely excited. And then I went in for the interview...
The office is a HORRIBLE. Located in a neighbourhood full of homeless people tents, sleeping bags and flies. I was greeted by a swarm of flies before the doors opened and the distaste continued inside.
There was a sales pit to my left. I went there early (6am) since I am already employed and didn't want to take working hours off. Met the recruiter and 2 VPs. Post the interview I remember thinking - No way. No way in hell. Tenderloin's Toilet. Here are a few words to describe why:
-SEEMED LIKE A HEAVILY MICRO MANAGED ENVIRONMENT
-VPs didn't seem to inspire
-I asked one of the VPs so tell me why I should work for you and he started fumbling his words. No good answer. All he could muster up is "join the rocketship"... Seriously?
-Kitchen reeked of rotten something
-No decent "Valley" perks
-It's a startup with the startup culture :(
Long store short if you are an experienced AE with 5+ years of SaaS experience - This isn't the place for you. If you are still junior and want to battle it out in the trenches then go for it. But I'd still recommend against it as I've been to so many better companies with better culture and better people!
The only good part was being interviewed by the founder - Sanjit Biswas - who was humble and intelligent.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If for some reason you had to leave the company, what would it be and why?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (London, England) in Jan 2026
Interview
Interviews with recruitment, hiring manager and department director. Then a role play.
The interview process was quite insightful. They want you to bring some quite specific skills over with you around qualification and discovery
I applied online. I interviewed at Samsara in Dec 2025
Interview
This was the worst interview experience I’ve ever had. After being pushed quickly through 5 rounds of interviews and nothing but positive feedback I was told they would have a decision in one week I had a start date the month after. They completely ghosted me for more than a month then I got an an automated rejection email. The recruiter would text and call me to check in during the process and never heard from her after that. The sales managers that interviewed me seemed like very mediocre sales people that have never managed anyone and had no real insight into the position.
