I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in June 2019
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter from Samsara. I had one 30 mins call which went well. I asked a lot of questions and he seemed to be knowledgeable about most questions I asked. Prior to the call he sent be videos and information about Samsara as a preview into the company. Which eas helpful to get an understanding at high level how the company works. Next he set up a 1:1 portfolio review session with a Senior product designer. You present two projects and at the end of presenting, the designer asks questions.
Like previous reviews in here, the designer who interviewed me (She's been with the company for 5 months till date) seemed extremely disengaged and uninterested. In most cases when you are uninterested and disengaged IT SHOWS visibly. As a interviewee, putting a positive face through that all is quite challenging.
Anyway, note to team - if you are planning to put seniors, lead designers to interview incoming candidates please makes sure that they are accountable. If not, you are going to lose on great candidates to be a part of your team.
Cool mission, just arrogant staff designers for no reason.

I had applied via referral. The first round was a phone interview with the hiring manager. I was hoping to get selected because of my background but that didn't happen.
Standard rounds including an initial phone screen, portfolio review and chat with the hiring manager, portfolio review with the design team/panel, then final stage being the full day of interviews / "onsite"
