      Operations Specialist Interview

      14 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Samsara (London, England) in Nov 2021

      Interview

5 rounds that dragged on, felt like forever and 'only' took 4 full months to end for a Junior position/ NOT a manager level position. There was NO transparency at all throughout the process and I had to follow up with the recruitment team rather than the other way around for the "next step" in EACH round. Of the 3 recruiters I got in touch with in the company, the first two were respectful enough. The last recruiter though, he sounded condescending and did not seem to hear me at all when I was answering his questions. No words can explain how horrified I am by this whole experience... They made it very obvious that I was their 2nd or 3rd option in the last month and a half before rejecting, they kept me hanging. Prior to that, I was the "favourite" for this position after having passed all 5 rounds and received great feedback from everyone... and well hopes were very high. Today I finally received a rejection email which I was expecting, but the fact that they did not send it much earlier... It is beyond disrespectful. I had to contact references and talk about my business that was not even necessary in the end since Samsara was clearly looking to hire someone else in any case! I am shocked and disheartened by the disrespect. I do not think any company has treated candidates as poorly as Samsara treated me. Who knows, they probably do this to other candidates too! Speaks a lot for their company culture, I think I might have dodged a bullet! Finally, I am extreeemely grateful that there are platforms like Glassdoor that allows us to share our experiences as applicants. The job market is unbelievably tough right now, the last thing you want is a company treating you this way! The good work that we did in previous jobs, at uni or at any stage of life are worth something, and no company should ever take our confidence away from us even for one second/ not make us think twice about whether we are good enough or not.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Normal behavioural questions such as give examples from past roles when... and what would you do in certain situations. Also, the questions were very repetitive. I was asked similar questions by all 6 recruiters, it was exhausting in the last rounds.

Samsara strives to deliver an excellent candidate experience, where transparency and communication are top priorities. We are disappointed to hear that your experience did not reflect the standard we set with our recruiting team. Please know that we are taking your feedback into consideration as we work to improve our process.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (Atlanta, GA) in June 2021

      Interview

Applied: 5/12 1st contact: 5/17 1st interview: 5/20, 20min phone screen 2nd interview: 5/28, 30min phone call ——Take home assignment due within 48 hrs 3rd interview: 6/21, 2.5hrs, 5 different people with no breaks 4th interview: 6/23, 30min Auto-generated email: 6/30 Total time interviewing: 230min (3.83hrs) + take home assignment I honestly felt great about this interview process up until the very last day. Not only was I overqualified according to one interviewer, but I thought the rigorous process would be a testament to their culture. I was so excited because every interview went great and I was a perfect fit... or so I thought. After all the time put into interviewing and the take home assignment, the least they could do was offer a phone call or even a personal email, but no -- they decided to go with the auto-generated email that seems like it's also used for automatic disqualifications, let alone someone who has spent almost 4 hours in this process over 4 interviews plus an assignment. I thought so highly of their culture until I received that email. I think they can do a much better job showing candidates the respect they deserve, especially after asking so much of them. I'm left with so many questions and a negative experience in the end.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The vast majority of questions were centered around relevant past experience and situational approaches. Nothing out of left field.
