Initial phone interview lasting 15 minutes following by a request for detailed writing samples. After submitting writing samples they scheduled a three way hour long phone interview. After the phone interview they invited me to a lunch interview at their office 200 miles away. During the in person interview I spent the entire day meeting the staff and was interviewed by several people. These interviews all seemed to be positive, the lunch also went well. At the end of the day they told me I would hear back in a week. Next business day I got an automated email stating "You are no longed being considered, your resume is back in the applicant pool".
Sunk about three hours into the writing sample, two hours into the phone interview/prep, two hours into researching the company, 10 hours of driving, an entire day of on site interview and $200 bucks into travel/ lodging. Fairly long, involved process for a 35k a year position I was fully qualified for. Can't say I was thrilled to get a copy/paste automated message but who cares about applicants feeling right?
