I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ScalingFunds in June 2022
Interview
3 tasks, one to automate some front-end things, 1 back-end and one with database queries.
Did the tasks as a peer programing session, with me building out a framework for testing as the interviewer watched.
Got an offer, put in my 2 months notice at my current company. 6 weeks later when i asked about when my equipment would be arriving, only then did they let me know that they were discontinuing my position due to “economic reasons”. No further explanation.
Extremely unprofessional, engineers dont really know what they need from a QA and management obviously cant plan a budget 2 months in advance. Dont care about messing with peoples lives, since they waited so long to cut the contract, even though the contract itself stated a 1 month notice period.
Dont recommend, as management can obviously break off your contract at any time due to their lack of basic bussiness foresight, and i doubt anyone would like to work under such uncertainty.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ScalingFunds in May 2022
Interview
1. Screening call with Engineer.
2. Unexpected live coding.
The interviewer was nice, and transparent regarding how the company works. Although all emails are prepared for Software Engineer, Full stack developer, not Software Test Engineer. There is a lack of processes for this position.
During the first call, they told me that I will get a response in three days. After almost two weeks I sent an email and they answered me with an invitation for the next round, again description was for Developer, not Tester. As the recruiter told me that they don't do live coding for Testers, I didn't expect any, even though the meeting name was "Live Coding" (the recruitment process was described for developers, not testers).
I was a bit surprised when the same recruiter who told me on the first meeting that we are not going to have a live coding session, announced on our second call that we will do it anyway. I've managed to finish the assignment. I have never did live coding before on the interview so I have to admit that I was a bit stressed.
I've received a decline email for the Fullstack Engineer position so I'm not sure whether I'm still in the process or not ;)
I hope they will find the right person who set up processes for them. Be aware that Software Engineer in Test in real life is their Lead position.
All best!
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ScalingFunds (Italy, TX) in June 2022
Interview
1. Screening call with Technical Person.
2. Unexpected Live coding
They have a nice described process for Software Engineer but they didn't create a separate section for Software Engineer in Test. That is really confusing.
The screening call was with an Engineer. The call was a bit not structured, but that is okay as it is still a small company, they don't have processes for the test yet. I received an email for Full-Stack Engineer :D, not for Senior QA/ Software Engineer in Test.
The call was nice and the Engineer explained in all detail how looks work in the company. The company is transparent here.
The recruiter told me that for QA they don't have live coding and the company will contact me in 3 days. After two weeks I wrote an email with a question about the recruitment status they answered me with an invitation for Live Coding. I was surprised as during the first part they told me there is no Live Coding for Software Engineer in Test. I thought that I again received the default email for the Fullstack developer. I've managed to do the live coding assignment, it was easy. But I have to admit I was a bit stressed as they told me before there is no live coding for me and they assured me before that is going to be different for me than is described on the webpage.
