Applied, did not hear back for several weeks. Was eventually contacted for an interview, and had a panel interview and then a smaller one on one with the employees who worked within the specific office. I heard back several weeks later.

Submit application. Interviewed by committee. Committee consisted of members at the institution. They will check references. Interview candidates are ranked according to responses. The three top candidates are invited back for a second interview with the actual department. Must submit transcripts for school and three references. Some positions may have an internal candidate applying for the job, and this will be a promtion.
