I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sciaky (Chicago, IL) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was abnormal. The sales manager reached out on a Thursday to schedule a 15 minute phone on Friday or the weekend. After a 15 minute call on Sunday afternoon, he explained that they were looking to fill the role quickly, and wanted to conduct an in person interview with 3 other team members the following week. On Monday he asked for an in person interview on Wednesday. I asked to have it on Thursday or Friday and they were flexible enough. When I got there I got an hour long tour of facility and was shown the products. After all this I was put in the conference room for a 4 person interview, the vibe immediately shifted to a formal interview, and was asked about what had been learned on the tour. Overall team was friendly and reasonable, but having to take off half a day to drive to the facility before being asked any real questions to assess my fit felt like a waste of my time and energy.
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Sciaky (Bedford Park, IL) in June 2025
Interview
I arrived for an afternoon interview with the Director of Operations. He gave me a tour of the facility, then we met with a former field service engineer and one of the managers to discuss the my
background and the role. Following that, I was escorted into the door closest to the parking lot and went on my way. The whole initial interview took an hour.
Nitpicking the interview, they asked for a supervisor reference, though one was already on there from my previous employer. The other references they requested in the in-house application made no mention of requiring an additional supervisor reference.
I reached out to a former supervisor and emailed his contact information to Sciaky but never received a follow up email of any kind.

Question 1
Seems like the big thing surrounding the position was the travel requirement. They asked if I could travel up to 50% of the time. They were concerned that I would bounce from the position after six months.
