      Financial Advisor Trainee Interview

      7 Nov 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Scotiabank (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2017

      Interview

I was originally recruited via LinkedIn by someone who wished to phone screen me. She completely missed the time that we had agreed on, and my phone calls to her during that time were ignored. This is unprofessional and rude. We rescheduled for next week. She was late for this call. During this conversation I was asked general questions about my sales abilities. The week after I was pushed along to HR for a one hour video call, which this person was also late for (unprofessional) and upon being honest about certain trends in the economy, she had decided herself to not consider me for the role I was applying for. A few days later I received a call from the same person during which she rudely pointed out to me why we would not be proceeding with my application and proceeded to point out my "incompetencies". She told me that if I wish to apply to other roles within Scotia, I may, but I could not apply to this position.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Scotiabank (London, ON) in May 2022

      Interview

It has taken longer than expected. About a month to complete the interviews and the whole process. It took about 1 week after applying to be contacted for first interview and then another 15 days for second interview. The interviewer was to the point and not very friendly, but very honest and clear about pay and what I will need to do once I start.
