I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Screach (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in June 2018
Interview
He was at least 15 minutes late as he had been interviewing someone else. One room. One person Rob Rawlinson CEO. He sat and went over test results. He said that someone people had even taken the tests today which sounded odd as it was early afternoon.
There were no standard questions that I have prepared for. I spent days researching the company. Their website doesn’t give that much away about the structure of the business. He said there were only two people who worked for the customer service at the time which is odd as why would you really need to hire a supervisor for two. I asked him about where the business was going how he saw the job developing and didn’t answer any of my questions just laughing them off.
You would think he would have given some detail about shift patterns and which days you would be expected to work. I said there had been no detail on the job advert about holiday etc. Nothing about what the company provides the workforce.
He gave me feedback if I would have “fitted in” with company goals. He gave feedback on my own search for work. Some bordering on offensive. He had asked me what I enjoyed outside of work and used that passion I had in my hobbies as a reason for not giving me the job. Not one time was I asked “Why do I want this job?” Or “why am I passionate about customer service”. I am not going to say “well in my spare time I like thinking about targets, KPIs and service level agreements”.
I couldn’t find update information about the company only something that’s happened two years previously. Their presence on social media is abysmal. One appalling review on Facebook and bland uninteresting twitter. Took me a long time to find someone who worked for the company in LinkedIn.
I researched a lot about how to approach questions for this role through various sources. It seems that his process isn’t the same as others. Nothing wrong with that. But if you have worked damn hard to prepare for the interview don’t expect to be chosen for the job.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Scenario - hiring someone he disagreed with how do you approach it? More of an ego boost of the CEO rather a genuine situation.
Scenario - you hear someone on the phone getting quite heating with the customer and what would do? He even went as far as saying you had listened back to the call and what would you do. Which makes it totally unrealistic and hypothetical as you were second guessing a conversation you had never heard.
