I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Secureframe
Interview
Longer than necessary. You have about 5 interviews and a take home assignment. The first two were with the manager of the team, which I really enjoyed, they were nice and pretty straightforward, honestly felt like a good fit. My third interview for the deep dive was meshed with what would have been my fourth interview with upper leadership.
The person I met with was 12 minutes late to our interview and very impersonal. I understand a deeper dive is to get a better gist of who you are but asking me about my high school experience, college side gigs, and college gpa felt really uncomfortable and not professional.
Our interview was rushed despite the interviewer being late and absolutely no questions were asked about my current work history in relation to the role I was interviewing for, it felt kinda like a hazing tbh.
They also did not like when I said that good work culture is top down, which honestly it’s not on entry level employees to make a good work culture, but I digress.
After our interview ended they completely got my name wrong, and at that point it really dawned on me that I was not going to be moving forward with the company. I should’ve expected such when they were late despite this role being completely remote, but wow, regardless of your role in a company you do not treat candidates like that.
I think when tech companies emphasize the role you’re applying for is entry level, but make you jump through hoops on top of working your current job, it says a lot about the culture. I wonder if this would’ve gone different if I wasn’t openly queer?
