I had a disappointing interview experience at Sedbergh School Rong Qiao Sai De Bo School in Fuzhou.
In the spring of 2024, I had the opportunity to interview with Sedbergh School Rong Qiao Sai De Bo School, Fuzhou. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by unprofessional behavior and an unfair treatment. Despite initially receiving a job offer, they unexpectedly rescinded it the very next day, citing a "violation" of their policy regarding contacting current teachers on LinkedIn.
However, this decision was only made after I had already received an offer from another school and was required to decline it to accept their offer. As a result, I lost two job opportunities due to their sudden change of heart.
What was even more concerning was the official reason they provided for withdrawing their offer. They claimed that it was due to my unwillingness to teach subjects other than the one I'm qualified in, which will be written in my work permit. However, I'm aware that this is illegal in many countries and a breach of basic human rights. The fact that they were willing to pass on this information without any explanation or apology is shocking.
Additionally, when I sought feedback from a current teacher at the school through LinkedIn (as is common practice), they accused me of violating their policy without providing any justification or apology.
It is disheartening to see schools prioritizing decision-making processes that erode trust and respect when making choices that impact the lives and careers of potential employees.
